U.S. Premiere of “The Corregidor and The Molinera” Manuel de Falla

Washington and New York were the scene of the premiere in the U.S.. of this iconic work of Manuel de Falla, part of the season 2009/2010 The Shakespeare Theater Company y de Brooklyn Academy of Music, respectively.

Concerts were performed by the Post and the Brooklyn Clasical Philharminic Ensemble under the direction of the teacher and the part Gil Ordonez corográfica, responsible Ramón Oller, was performed by dancers of Ballet Hispanico Meters and New York.

Development

The concert program "Falla and Flamenco" has been co-produced by the SECC (State Society for Cultural Commemorations) and POSTCLASSICAL ENSEMBLE occasion of the commemoration of the Spanish Presidency of the EU and has been sponsored by the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Directorate General for Cultural Industries and Policy, Ministry of Culture; Embassy of Spain in Washington and SPAIN-USA Foundation.

During the month of April 2010 program presented "Falla and Flamenco" in New York the day 17 y en Washington D.C. day 23. The representations received great acclaim from audiences and media, getting a full house at both audiences; 2.150 spectators at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, NY y 745 spectators at the Harman Center for the Arts in Washingon DC with a waiting list of more 200 people.

En el Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), “Falla and Flamenco " provided an immersion experience in Spanish culture by a space 8 hours. The program was initiated to 15.00 hours at the BAM Rose Cinemas, with Brook Zern presentation of a selection of films Flamenco singers. At 19.00 h the symposium began with the screening of a short Flamenco, in which the director Angel Gil-Ordonez and pianist Peter Carboné illustrated how Falla Flamenco uses in his

Fantasy Betica and in Nights in the Gardens of Spain.

After this conversation took place the concert.

In Part II of the program was the premiere of The Corregidor and Molinera, ballet and orchestra. The choreography specially commissioned to Ramon Oller was performed by the same choreographer and dancers Dansa Passatges (Barcelona) There Peridance Ensemble (NY).

The BAM is regarded as the center of most innovative and influential performing arts in the U.S. has presented this program as one of its flagship programs within their season which has generated a big impact on the press which has emerged as "the event more outstanding spring "by publications such as` New Yorker or Time Out.

Angel Gil Ordóñez repeated this same program in Washington in Harmann Center for the arts.
