Tribute to Alicia Alonso at the 60 Anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba

Leticia Espinosa de los Monteros in 2008 chaired the Organizing Committee of the Gala Tribute to Alicia Alonso on the occasion of 60 anniversary of the creation of the National Ballet of Cuba, The University Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid and the Institute organized the Alicia Alonso 21 May in the auditorium of San Lorenzo de El Escorial performing Giselle by The National Ballet of Cuba.

Linking with Spain Alicia Alonso is huge. In 1992 The National Ballet of Cuba returned to Spain and then Rector of Complutense University Gustavo Villapalos Dance led a Chair in 1999 developed entire educational experimentation. That year the Ministry decreed official studies make it through the creation of Alicia Alonso Dance Institute, attached to the University Rey Juan Carlos, becoming the first center in Spain where it is taught as official qualification: the Bachelor of Dance and the first Ph.D. program in Performing Arts. The institute imparts undergraduate, Postgraduate and doctoral research programs.

The 9 May 2008 The Government of Spain awarded him the Medal of Fine Arts in recognition of his artistic.
